Russian troops have replenished their arsenal with a batch of Pantsir-S anti-aircraft systems and stationary Pantsir-SMD complexes. The upgraded units have gained the ability to use a combined ammunition load of up to 48 missiles.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Костянтин Широкун), according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The weapon manufacturer stated that the new systems are adapted to intercept a wide range of aerial targets. The stationary Pantsir-SMD variants are specifically designed to repel mass attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles.
Purpose of the upgraded systems
Mobile Pantsir-S complexes are focused on covering industrial and administrative facilities from aircraft, cruise missile, and precision-guided weapon strikes. The use of modifications without a wheeled chassis allows for static defense of vital sectors.
Losses of Russian air defense
Ukrainian intelligence units systematically destroy enemy air defense equipment, including Pantsir-S1 complexes, in temporarily occupied territories. Recently, Magura maritime drones hit occupier positions in Crimea, where radars and S-400 launchers, as well as electronic warfare stations, were destroyed.
