The German armed forces have expanded their arsenal with the Seetaube unmanned surface vessel, developed by STARK. The platform is designed for reconnaissance and monitoring of maritime areas.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Лев Шевченко) citing STARK Defence, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The new naval equipment was developed by STARK specialists in cooperation with the Cyber Innovation Hub Bundeswehr on behalf of the Cyber and Information Domain Service. The boat is based on the proven Vanta platform, which previously passed tests during NATO exercises in Portugal.
Technical capabilities and mission of the device
The six-meter unmanned boat is equipped with a suite of cameras and radars, allowing it to perform tasks such as detecting signal sources. The system can operate autonomously on pre-planned routes or act as a mobile unit for cross-bearing.
Using drones to monitor maritime shipping
The deployment of such technologies is considered a tool to counter the Russian “shadow fleet,” which the rf uses to export oil while bypassing sanctions. Autonomous platforms provide persistent maritime control, which is essential for identifying vessels that conceal their coordinates or manipulate location data.
“Modern maritime threats require new approaches to surveillance and control of the maritime space. Autonomous platforms can ensure a constant presence at sea, reduce the workload on crews, and rapidly transmit information for decision-making,” said COO STARK in Ukraine Maksym Cherkis.
