A Russian airstrike on Kramatorsk on August 20 left one person dead and at least 11 injured. The enemy used nine aerial bombs, damaging 26 residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.

This was reported by Glavcom citing the Telegram channel of State Emergency Service of Ukraine, according to the portal PromPolitInform.

The strike hit the central part of the city, where enemy munitions caused two large-scale fires at retail sites. Rescuers contained a fire covering 1,000 square meters, although operations were temporarily suspended due to the risk of repeat strikes. The second fire, covering 800 square meters, was completely extinguished.

Rescue efforts continue under the threat of shelling

During the rubble clearing, emergency service personnel extricated an injured woman and handed her over to medics, and recovered the body of a deceased person. The continuation of work at the damaged sites depends directly on the security situation in Kramatorsk.

According to preliminary findings, the invaders used FAB-250 aerial bombs equipped with UMPK modules for the attack. Such guided weapons allow Russian aircraft to launch strikes from a long distance, avoiding the engagement zone of the Ukrainian air defense system.

The situation in the Donetsk region

Kramatorsk remains one of the enemy’s primary targets in the Donetsk region, despite its proximity to the front line, which passes just 15 kilometers from the city. Despite systematic airstrikes and drone attacks, some local residents have not evacuated the settlement.

Earlier that day, according to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin, the enemy had already carried out strikes on Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. At that time, seven wounded were reported in Kramatorsk, but after data verification, the number of casualties increased.
