The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine outlined key tasks for the new leadership
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi has introduced the new Commander of the Ground Forces to the personnel. Brigadier General Sviatoslav Zaiets was appointed to the position by presidential decree. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The introduction of the new commander was accompanied by the setting of priority tasks for the updated command staff. The Commander-in-Chief emphasized the importance of systemic changes that should directly impact the combat effectiveness of units and the service conditions for military personnel.
A human-centric approach has been identified as the central aspect of the work. According to the Major General, defenders must be properly trained, well-supplied, and protected as much as possible from unjustified risks. This requires updating training programs, which should be based on the realities of the modern front rather than outdated methodologies.
Priorities for technological development
Special attention was paid during the meeting to the integration of technological innovations. Unmanned systems and digital tools must have practical value by ensuring a tangible advantage over the adversary. Preserving the lives of personnel is stated as the primary objective for utilizing these capabilities.
Another key vector is the development of a professional growth system for officers and sergeants. Career advancement should be based exclusively on competence and personal leadership qualities. Furthermore, it is essential to establish a mechanism for transferring combat experience from frontline units to planning bodies.
Assessment of previous performance
Mykhailo Drapatyi also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing commander, Hennadii Shapovalov, for his service. The Commander-in-Chief stressed that the new head of the Ground Forces must not only transform internal processes but also make the forces highly capable of fulfilling combat missions.
The newly appointed commander has been tasked with increasing the efficiency of managing the structure while addressing the challenges of the current stage of the war. The success of future operations will depend on the command’s ability to implement rapid and effective decisions based on the practical needs of the military.
