The President of Ukraine will visit three cities and attend a Canadian cabinet meeting
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska, has begun a three-day visit to Canada running from September 9 to 11. The trip includes events in three Canadian cities and participation in a government meeting. This was reported by Ukrinform citing Office of the Prime Minister of Canada, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
During the three-day trip, the Ukrainian delegation will visit Calgary, Toronto, and North Bay. The main focus of the scheduled meetings is directed towards strengthening bilateral relations.
The sides plan to focus on key areas of partnership. Specifically, this includes expanding defence, economic, and energy cooperation between the two nations.
Participation in Canadian Cabinet Meeting
While in the country, the Ukrainian leader will also join an off-site meeting of the Canadian cabinet. Furthermore, the visit is intended to highlight Canada’s ongoing leadership in supporting Ukraine and its commitment to a just and lasting peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada took place last December on his way to the United States. In turn, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Ukraine in August of that same year.
Preparation of Strategic Agreement
Earlier, the Ukrainian head of state established the official delegation for negotiations with the Canadian side. The negotiators are preparing to conclude a Hundred-Year Partnership Agreement between the two states.
