The Sargan 3000 uncrewed boat sank a hostile drone using automatic turret fire
The first-ever battle between naval drones took place in the Black Sea, resulting in a Ukrainian surface vessel sinking a Russian uncrewed surface vessel. The joint operation was conducted on 13 September 2026 by the Ukrainian Navy and the Main Directorate of Intelligence. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
For the first time in the history of naval warfare, a direct engagement took place between robotic surface vessels, ending in the total destruction of the hostile unit.
The successful elimination of the target was achieved through coordinated efforts between military intelligence units and naval forces.
Intelligence and Naval Cooperation in the Black Sea
The initial detection of the Russian uncrewed surface vessel in maritime waters was carried out by specialists from the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine.
After precisely establishing the location of the Russian target, intelligence operatives promptly forwarded the target data to Ukrainian Navy teams for further action.
Armament of the Sargan 3000 and Target Elimination
To engage the detected hostile vessel, Ukrainian naval forces deployed a Sargan 3000 uncrewed surface boat.
The craft was equipped with a 12.7 mm RWS Protector remote-controlled automatic turret. Sustained fire from this combat mount shattered the Russian sea drone and sent it to the seabed.
