A Russian Gerbera-type drone in very good technical condition was discovered on the Baltic Sea coast in Poland. Specialists ruled out any chemical, radiological, or biological threat from the device. This was reported by RMF24 citing RMF FM, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
Specialized units conducted preliminary examinations of the unmanned aerial vehicle found in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The device was discovered on a beach in the village of Rusinowo near Jarosławiec, prompting emergency services to secure the area.
Threat assessment and relocation
Chemical experts confirmed that the recovered device poses no radioactive or chemical contamination risks. During the night, the drone was moved further up the beach away from the waterline using a special robot to protect it from waves and facilitate expert work.
Technical evaluation
The Polish Minister of National Defence stated that the find may be technologically more advanced than previously analyzed equipment used by Russian forces. The drone was likely lost during test maneuvers conducted by Russia over the Baltic Sea basin.
Further investigation plans
Following explosives inspections, experts will begin a comprehensive analysis to determine the precise flight path and origin of the unmanned aircraft. The excellent technical condition will allow Polish specialists to closely examine Russian engineering solutions.
