The accident involving Lviv-Sokal diesel train occurred near Pidzamche station
A passenger diesel train running on the Lviv-Sokal route collided with an electric locomotive in Lviv. Five people sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of the railway accident. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine (Сергій Козачук) citing Ukrzaliznytsia, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The collision of the railway rolling stock occurred near the Pidzamche station, located within the limits of the regional center. A passenger train and an electric locomotive failed to clear each other on the tracks.
Consequences of the accident for passengers and crews
As a result of the railway incident, the driver of the diesel train sustained a leg injury. At the same time, the locomotive crew operating the electric locomotive was not injured during the collision.
In addition to the driver, four passengers inside the diesel train carriages required medical assistance at the scene. Information regarding their current condition is being clarified.
Investigation into the causes of the railway incident
Special services arrived at the scene of the accident to eliminate the consequences of the collision and clarify the details. Key technical experts from the railway company were also involved in the operations.
A special commission is investigating all the circumstances, technical factors, and direct causes that led to the accident on the approaches to the Lviv station.
