The suspect laundered over 2 million US dollars in illicit funds
A SAP prosecutor based on NABU investigation materials has sent an indictment to court regarding the former deputy head of Kyiv Customs. The former official is accused of legalizing over 2 million USD invested in the construction of a hotel complex in Polyanytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk Region. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing the Telegram channel of SAPO, based on data from NABU.
Investigators established that the suspect built and commissioned a hotel complex with a restaurant in the village of Polyanytsia within the Bukovel resort area during 2020–2021. The capital injected into the construction lacked any legal confirmation of its origin. The entire implementation bypassed standard transparent financial channels.
Property registered to relative
To conceal ownership, the official registered the real estate objects and land plots under a relative’s name. Nevertheless, the former customs official continued to maintain factual control over the business operations. All strategic management decisions regarding the facility remained in his hands.
Hotel operational revenues
Documentary evidence shows that the property generated income throughout the 2020–2025 period. These revenues directly stemmed from commercial activities utilizing assets derived through criminal pathways. Such structure ensured continuous cash inflows over the years.
Criminal charges
The official notice of suspicion was delivered in March 2026 under the relevant article of the criminal code. The applied charges carry a lengthy prison sentence upon conviction. Additionally, the sanction mandates property confiscation and a ban on holding specific positions for a set period.
