The American agency resumed its inquiry into the prediction market platform
US regulators have resumed an investigation into Polymarket regarding a potential breach of a 2022 settlement agreement restricting American users from accessing its main offshore platform. This was reported by Economichna Pravda citing Reuters, according to the portal PromPolitInform.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is examining whether the company implemented adequate measures to block domestic users as part of a broader inquiry initiated earlier this year. The review focuses on past control mechanisms, customer location verification tools, and promotional activities inside the country.
Scope of the regulatory review
A similar inquiry was previously closed by the agency last year without bringing formal charges. The platform is based in New York and operates an offshore entity registered in Panama.
In addition, the regulator is closely scrutinizing the domestic platform introduced by the company late last year, specifically reviewing client onboarding and protection procedures. Other major media outlets previously reported on the broader enforcement probe earlier in June.
