Automated Turrets of Private Air Defence Destroy Over 60 Enemy Targets

Commercial enterprises shoot down Russian drones over Kyiv under new initiative

Ukrainian automated turrets have destroyed more than 60 enemy air targets under a private air defence project. The systems are actively operated by the Ukrainian Air Force and private companies protecting their own facilities. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The Brave1 defence tech cluster launched the development of automated turrets back in 2024. Since then, the systems have evolved from experimental prototypes into an integral component of the nation’s air defence network.

Modern robotic units are already deployed with the Ukrainian Air Force. They successfully neutralize various airborne threats, including jet-powered Banderol drones and Geran-5 UAVs.

Protecting the Capital and Industrial Facilities

The technology has proven particularly effective in urban defence. Over the past month alone, automated turrets shot down dozens of enemy drones over Kyiv.

The deployment of advanced domestic weapons ensures reliable protection for critical infrastructure and industrial sites both deep in the rear and near the front lines.

Legal Framework and Scaling Up Private Air Defence

The private air defence project operates under Cabinet of Ministers Decree No. 1506 dated 19 November 2025. The policy enables businesses to establish protection for their personnel, manufacturing plants, and energy infrastructure against regular drone strikes.

The first private air defence mobile teams started combat duties in spring 2026. By mid-October, nearly 100 Ukrainian enterprises joined the initiative, expanding national air defence capacity without burdening the regular armed forces.
