Ukraine and NATO to Deepen Cooperation in Innovative Technologies

The agreement provides additional funding for joint defense projects

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Alliance's Defence Innovation Accelerator have signed a memorandum of understanding on the joint development and implementation of advanced technologies. The document establishes the first such agreement between DIANA and a NATO partner country. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Serhii Boiev and representatives of the Alliance’s Defence Innovation Accelerator. The document aims to establish a solid foundation for closer cooperation between the innovation ecosystems of Ukraine and NATO member states.

The Ukrainian side possesses practical experience in the rapid development and testing of military solutions under real combat conditions. In turn, the Alliance structure provides access to specialized expertise and infrastructure to transition from development to serial production.

Partnership and Funding

The concluded memorandum provides for attracting additional financial resources to implement joint defense initiatives. The initiative will also facilitate the creation of a comprehensive system for developing defense innovations that combines accounting, testing, and integration of advanced technologies.

A separate point of the agreements outlines the expansion of the catalog of innovative defense developments. This list will include unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare systems, modern radars, and ground robotic systems.

Catalogs and Standards

The created catalog will contain verified data on current and prospective solutions, their readiness levels, and test results. Such information will be used to plan procurement, determine priorities, and further scale production.

In addition, the document ensures the synchronization of technological catalogs between Ukraine and NATO states to enhance situational awareness. The obtained data will help more effectively forecast the development of military technologies and coordinate joint competitions.
