NASAMS and IRIS-T air defence systems are set to be integrated into a joint tactical network
Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhen Khmara visited command posts of the Air Force's anti-aircraft missile troops and direct cover units. During the visit, the official discussed integrating various air defence systems and deploying robotic turrets. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The head of the defence ministry reviewed operational experience with foreign anti-aircraft systems directly at combat positions. Combining diverse military hardware into a unified control system was identified as a key priority.
Integration of foreign air defence systems
During meetings with air defence crews, operational details of NASAMS and IRIS-T systems were discussed. Ukrainian specialists are currently developing mechanisms to link various assets into a single tactical network.
“We discussed the interoperability of various SAM systems and are working on an implementation plan. Ukrainian soldiers use this equipment daily and know best what can be improved. We are studying their experience and determining the need for specific types of anti-aircraft guided missiles. Together with partners, we are seeking opportunities to increase deliveries of necessary weaponry,” Yevhen Khmara stated.
Use of robotic turrets
At the positions of direct cover forces, the minister was briefed on the combat capabilities of robotic turrets. This equipment has already proven effective in shooting down enemy Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones.
Service members offered specific proposals regarding specialized ammunition types to enhance hit probability. Additionally, meeting participants addressed extra force protection measures and support required from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
