The expected cost of military catering for 2027 amounts to UAH 43.8 billion
The DOT Defense Procurement Agency has announced a tender for food supplies for service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service in 2027 with an expected value of UAH 43.8 billion. The updated product descriptions introduce stricter quality requirements, specifically regarding water content in meat and nutritional value. The expected cost of a daily ration per person increased from UAH 171.48 to UAH 181.74 due to inflation and rising energy prices. This is reported by the portal PromPolitInform, citing information from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The DOT Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has published tender documentation to supply the military with food products. All 360 items in the catalog received updated specifications to clearly regulate supply standards. These regulations were approved in June of this year to improve the quality of meals in the army.
New Quality Standards and Nutritional Value
The documentation now includes data on the nutritional and energy value of each item, as well as protein and fat content for products regulated by state standards. Moisture content in frozen meat and poultry is now strictly limited and cannot exceed five percent. In addition, minimum and maximum size limits have been established for vegetables and fruits.
Cost Increase and Logistics
The expected cost of a daily ration per person for the upcoming period has increased to UAH 181.74 compared to UAH 171.48 last year. The changes are driven by inflation processes and higher energy costs, although final prices will be determined through an auction. The order has been divided into more than twenty lots to engage suppliers with different production capacities.
Performance Control and Regional Model
Delivery will be organized using a regional model, where a specific territory is assigned to each supplier for timely transportation. Specialists from the Main Department of State Quality Assurance will conduct selective checks for compliance with the stated requirements. Contract performance will also be monitored using the SLA methodology to evaluate the completeness and accuracy of each delivery.
