Total blackout in Kyiv region: power grid disruptions lead to power outages

On February 7, emergency power outages were imposed in the Kyiv region. DTEK officially confirmed the information. This was reported by life.kyiv.ua, as reported by the portal PromPolitInform.

Due to emergency situations in the region’s power grid, power stabilization schedules have been cancelled. Power is out in all districts of the Kyiv region.

Cause of the blackout

The massive overnight attack by Russian troops on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities was the cause of the widespread outages. According to Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, the enemy targeted key generation facilities.

«The enemy also targeted the power generation facilities: Yantarskaya and Dobrotvirskaya Thermal Power Plants,» Denys Shmyhal reported on his official Telegram channel.

As a result of the attacks, the power shortage sharply increased, forcing the transmission system operator to implement emergency measures. Power Company Decision

DTEK reported that emergency power outages were implemented on Ukrenergo’s orders to stabilize the power grid and ensure the safety of repairs.

«Due to a massive enemy attack, emergency power outages were implemented on Ukrenergo’s orders,» DTEK said in a statement.

Power company employees are currently working at the damaged facilities, carrying out emergency restoration and repairs.

Important Information for Consumers

DTEK notes: During emergency power outages, hourly schedules are not in effect. Power supply will only be restored after the situation in the power grid stabilizes.
