The United States has made it clear to Ukraine that it will not provide security guarantees until Kyiv and Moscow reach a peace agreement, according to UA.NEWS, as reported by Politico. PromPolitInform reports.

Two European and one American officials stated that the United States has made it clear to Ukraine that it will not finalize the security guarantee agreement until a general agreement to end the war is reached.

“And because Russia insists on territorial demands that Ukraine will not retreat from, the peace process has stalled,” the report states.

One of the officials added that Trump “wants to solidify and agree on a lot before actually signing the agreement.”

As Politico notes, at the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will call for increased pressure on Russia. European officials also hope the US will do more to combat Russia’s shadow fleet. As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially enacted a decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, which lays the foundation for future international security agreements.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy believes that US security guarantees should be included in the peace agreement.

Zelenskyy also explained the obstacles to the creation of a free economic zone in Donbas.
