Vladimir Zelenskyy issued a decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against ten Russian athletes who support Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This was reported by the presidential office press service, according to Mind. PromPolitInform reports.
The sanctions package was based on a petition prepared by Ukrainian skeleton racer and member of the Ukrainian national Olympic team, Vladislav Geraskevich.
The sanctioned individuals include those who visited the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhia oblasts and temporarily occupied Crimea, publicly justified Russian aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Ukrainian territories, raised funds for the Russian army, and held events for Ukrainian children illegally abducted by Russia. The list includes wrestlers Yevgeny Baidusov and Imam Ganishov, archer Svetlana Dashanimayeva, fencer Yana Egoryan, taekwondo athletes Vladislav Larin and Maxim Khramtsov, gymnast Angelina Melnikova, judoka Madina Taymazova, and boxer Fyodor Dvorkovich.
