Naftogaz Ensures Stable Gas Supplies
After regasification, the gas will be transported via pipelines through Poland to Ukraine to meet the country’s needs as early as February.
Deutsche ReGas Chairman of the Board, Ingo Wagner, noted that the delivery was made possible thanks to the professional and trusting cooperation of all partners. He also emphasized that Deutsche ReGas is the only LNG terminal in Germany financed and operated by private companies, and its operations make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s energy security, confirming the terminal’s strategic importance for Central and Eastern Europe.
Serhiy Koretsky, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, noted that the current winter is the most difficult since the beginning of the war due to constant shelling of gas infrastructure and extremely low temperatures. He added that the Naftogaz team is systematically working with international partners to diversify sources and supply routes to ensure stable gas supplies for Ukrainians. Koretsky emphasized that the new partnership opens a reliable import route for Ukraine this year, and the current agreement is only the first step toward long-term cooperation.
It is worth noting that Naftogaz and the Polish company Orlen also agreed to supply up to 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine. The fuel will arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
