ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih to Increase Prices for Rebar and Wire Rod Due to Record Rise in Electricity Costs

Mining and metallurgical company ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announced a price increase of USD 50 per ton for its rebar and wire rod, effective March 2026. This was reported by Uaprom.info and the PromPolitInform portal.

“The main reason for this step is the exceptionally high cost of electricity in Ukraine. Electricity prices have continued to rise rapidly in recent years, making them the most expensive in Europe and having a significant impact on production costs,” the company explained.

They noted that they have been bringing the issue of high electricity costs to the government’s attention since the spring of 2024. At that time, the average price for electricity reached approximately USD 120 per MWh (including delivery costs, excluding VAT). However, prices have continued to rise since then, reaching approximately USD 230 in February 2026. During peak hours, the tariff exceeded $370 per MWh, according to AMKR.

The company called this an “unprecedented rise in electricity costs,” which “forces the company to take urgent measures” to ensure its operations.
