The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on social protection of the military and their families. In particular, the total amount of families of missing persons will be paid 15 million hryvnia, regardless of the circumstances and the date of confirmation of status.
On February 25, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported bill No. 13646, which introduces a unified system of social guarantees for military personnel of the basic service – before, during and after its passage, said Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
“The document forms a clear and honest system of social protection for people who have defended the country, and the responsibility of the state to them and their families,” the minister said.
Law № 13646 provides for the preservation of employees called up or sent to military service, their workplace and position for the entire period of service. Also guaranteed is the payment of monetary compensation for unused days of annual and additional leave.
The time of service will be counted as insurance and work experience.
What is provided during the service
Military personnel will have guaranteed cash, medical, food and clothing support. The law also provides for family leave, treatment and rehabilitation by decision of the military medical commission. The state provides accommodation, free travel and postal service.
After returning from service
The military retains the right to return to work – to a position no lower than the one they held before the service. After setting on military records provides for the payment of benefits in the amount of average wages.
In addition, the military will have the opportunity of professional adaptation, full insurance and work experience, as well as the right to annual leave in the first year of work after returning.
Payments to the families of the dead and missing
A separate block of the law concerns the support of the families of dead and missing servicemen. The document introduces a unified approach to determining the total amount of assistance.
Currently, the state pays 15 million UAH to the families of the victims. Military families who have gone missing receive monthly payments of approximately UAH 120 thousand.
“We propose a clear rule: the total amount of assistance is 15 million UAH. That is, if the military received the status of missing, his family receives payments of about ₴ 120 thousand per month, and if the death is confirmed, relatives will receive a payment in such an amount that the total amount of assistance is 15 million UAH. This creates equality, transparency and understandable guarantees for each family – regardless of the date or circumstances of confirmation of status,” the minister explained.
“This creates equality, transparency and clear guarantees for every family,” Fedorov said.
Recall that in Kyiv they are expanding the network of psychological support: the Mental Health Center was opened in the city hospital No. 4.
