Kirill Budanov, head of the Presidential Office and a member of the Ukrainian negotiating team, stated that during previous negotiations, the Russian side agreed to accept security guarantees for Ukraine offered by the United States. He made this statement during a telethon broadcast, according to Gazeta.ua, according to the PromPolitInform portal.
“At the previous negotiations, the Russian side explicitly stated that they would accept the security guarantees offered to Ukraine by the United States,” Budanov noted.
According to him, the greatest progress has been achieved so far in the military subgroup. In particular, the parties have developed approaches to monitoring the demilitarized zone after the end of the war.
Regarding the territorial issue, Budanov acknowledged that the two sides’ positions remain polarized, but the search for a compromise continues.
“We are seeking a compromise between two completely polarized positions. We haven’t yet fully found it. I hope we will. “We don’t have much time,” he said, adding that the alternative is continuing the war.
Budanov also stated that the current state of the Russian army does not allow it to launch an offensive on Kyiv.
At the same time, he warned that Ukraine must be prepared for a possible increase in terrorist attacks, similar to the recent incident in Lviv.
