From 2027, women in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region will be able to work as miners

In the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, from 2027, women will be allowed to work in mines, as well as as excavator and loader operators, which is associated with an acute shortage of personnel due to the mobilization of men to the front. As “Donbas News” writes, this is reported by the Luhansk OVA. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

According to data, during 2026, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation plans to reduce the list of professions that women were previously not allowed to work in.

The reason for this decision is the shortage of labor in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region, in particular in the mining industry, where a significant part of men were mobilized and sent to the front.

It is expected that the changes will allow women to be involved in work as excavator and loader operators, as well as directly in the mines, in order to cover the shortage of personnel.
