In Ukraine, it becomes mandatory to build shelters in all new buildings.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 4778-IX, which improves the system of civil protection and introduces the mandatory construction of shelters in all new residential buildings and infrastructure facilities. This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

According to the law, hromadas will create a network of modern security centers, and schemes of protective structures will now be integrated directly into urban planning documentation. In addition, the document creates a legal framework for the development of a network of these centers and security classes and regulates the integration of protective structures of civil protection into urban planning documentation at all levels.

The law, in addition, clarifies the powers of state authorities and local self-government in the field of civil protection and urban planning. It introduces digitalization of accounting for certified fire and rescue units and emergency services, as well as eliminates outdated norms and terminological inconsistencies in legislation.
