Ukraine has developed new ballistic missiles FP-7, which are similar to ATACMS, but twice cheaper. Testing moves to a new stage, missiles will be used for attacks on the enemy.
Ukraine begins test strikes on Russia with new ballistic missiles FP-7. This was stated by the co-founder and chief designer of the defense company Fire Point Denis Shtilerman in an interview with 24 Channel, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

The domestic ballistic missile FP-7 is an analogue of the American ATACMS. However, its price is half as much. The range of destruction is the same – up to 300 kilometers, depending on the weight of the warhead. However, the Ukrainian development is not as compact as the American one.
The missile is launched from the trailed platform. It is planned that ballistic missiles will be launched from mobile launchers, which will be disguised as trucks. The process of deploying the complex to launch a rocket will take approximately 15 minutes.
Fire Point manufactures all parts of the missile, except for the warhead – it is made to order.
Fire Point is a manufacturer of long-range cruise missiles FP-5 Flamingos, which have already dealt several blows to Russia.
On February 27, the company showed the start and first stage of the FP-7 ballistics flight. The appearance of the rocket was announced in November 2025. Fire Point is also developing a FP-9 ballistic missile, which should fly 855 kilometers. The publication Defense Express wrote that ballistic missiles from Fire Point look like 48N6 from the Russian S-400. During the company’s press conference, it was explicitly said that this was a “clone rocket.”
Ukrainian ballistics FP-7 – an analogue of ATACMS
The chief designer explained that the domestic ballistic missile FP-7 is an analogue of the American missile ATACMS. However, the price is twice less. The range of destruction is the same – up to 300 kilometers, depending on the weight of the warhead. However, the Ukrainian development is not as compact as the American one.
He noticed that Fire Point completely manufactures all the parts independently (starting from the engines and ending with the flight controller). Only the warhead is made to order. According to him, production begins even before codification. This is done to prevent subsidence in the number of units produced.
Why are weapons expensive?
Speaking about the cost of ballistics, the chief designer of Fire Point noted that it is expensive in particular due to the bureaucratic burden. It is, in his words, a great burden lies on defense companies around the world.
“If we talk about the Boeing 747, from the idea to the first commercial flight was a period of 6 years. In the case of the Airbus A380, it took 25 years. All this is due to the bureaucratic burden. You need to have a lot of engineers, lawyers, managers who will fill in unnecessary papers. Testing lasts for years…,” said Shtilerman.
All this, in his words, is superimposed on the cost price. Therefore, even the simplest type of weapon becomes very expensive. Because of this, the Ukrainian authorities, as the co-founder of Fire Point emphasized, made an important and correct decision when they transferred this bureaucratic burden to the codification of the UAV.
Therefore, we codify everything as drones: and FP-5 we have drones, and FP-7 too. We don’t have time to codify this with old methods. If we followed the canons that the military bureaucracy created, then we would still have tested the FP drone, “Shtilerman explained.
- In late February, Fire Point showed the first stage of the FP-7 ballistics flight. The weight of the warhead is 150 kilograms. The maximum speed is 5400 kilometers per hour. The height of the flight is 65 kilometers.
