The war in the Middle East has destabilized the world oil and gas market.
US President Donald Trump said that restrictions on Russian oil can be restored only after the crisis in the world energy market ends and prices stabilize. This is reported by NBC News, Dengi.ua writes. PromPolitInform portal informs.
Answering a question about the temporary lifting of part of the sanctions against Russia related to oil exports, Trump noted that he primarily seeks to ensure stable supplies of energy resources on the world market.
“I want the world to have oil. I want to have oil,” he said.
According to Trump, the sanctions imposed against Moscow after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine may return as soon as the situation in the energy market normalizes.
The American leader was also asked about criticism from some foreign politicians due to the easing of sanctions pressure. In response, Trump did not give a direct comment and switched to the topic of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia under American mediation.
The US President said that he was surprised by the reluctance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to conclude an agreement.
“Tell Zelensky to conclude an agreement, because Putin is ready to conclude an agreement,” he said.
It was previously reported that the White House was considering lifting the embargo on sea-based energy exports from Russia, and in the end, the US Treasury Department issued a special license that allows the sale of Russian oil and oil products that have already been loaded onto tankers.
In addition, it became known that Russia bypassed Saudi Arabia in supplying oil to China, which remains its largest importer in the world.
