Ukraine plans to increase electricity imports and exports with Europe

Four years ago, we joined the EU energy grid and went from zero to 2,450 MW of import capacity, the Ministry of Energy noted.

In the next two years, Ukraine plans to increase the capacity of interstate intersections of power transmission lines with the European ENTSO-E energy grid by 1.5 GW. As Korrespondent.net reports, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported this on Monday, March 16. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

“There are many tasks ahead, the priority of which is increasing opportunities for electricity imports and exports with Europe. In the next 2 years, we plan to add at least 1.5 GW of intersections,” the message says.

The Ministry of Energy recalled that March 16 marks four years since Ukraine joined the European energy grid.

“Over these four years, Ukraine has gone from zero to 2,450 MW of import capacity – from emergency assistance to integration into the single European energy market,” the ministry emphasized.

Recall, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously reported that Ukraine and Romania signed a document on the construction of interconnectors (a main pipeline or power line connecting the energy networks of two or more countries, ed.). He added that one of them could be built this year.

We add that the presidents of Ukraine and Romania signed a declaration on strategic partnership and several other important documents.
