Figure of the day: The amount of deposits of individuals and sole proprietors in Ukrainian banks reached UAH 1,651 billion

As of March 1, the total amount of deposits of individuals, including sole proprietors, in Ukrainian banks reached UAH 1,651 billion, which is UAH 38.1 billion more than in February. As Delo.ua writes, this is reported by the press center of the Deposit Guarantee Fund. The PromPolitInform portal reports.

Deposits of individuals and sole proprietors in banks

Of this amount, UAH 1,083 billion is stored in the national currency, and UAH 568 billion – in foreign currency.

Deposits of individual entrepreneurs account for 3.2% of all depositors and 11.2% of the total amount of deposits, which corresponds to UAH 184.7 billion. Sole proprietor deposits are subject to guarantees by the Deposit Guarantee Fund for Individuals.

Regarding the distribution of deposits by size, the majority of depositors (over 97%) keep amounts up to 600 thousand hryvnias, while a significant part of high-denomination deposits belongs to a small number of individuals.

Demand deposits prevail in terms of maturity – 70.8% of all deposits. Term deposits account for 29.2%, of which about half are deposits up to three months, another part – for a period of three to six months, slightly less for a period of up to one year, and the minimum share is deposits over a year.

Thus, the structure of individual deposits indicates a predominantly short-term storage of funds in the banking system and the concentration of large deposits among a few depositors.

As a reminder, as of November 1, 2025, the total amount of deposits of individuals (including individual entrepreneurs) in Ukrainian banks amounted to 1.53 trillion hryvnias, which is 19.4 billion UAH more than the same indicator of the previous month.
