The defense forces of Ukraine are breaking the plans of the Russian aggressor. For four days this week, from March 17 to March 20, 2026, the intensity of the enemy’s offensive actions increased. The enemy tried to break through the defensive order of our troops in several strategic directions.
This was announced in the telegram channel by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
Fierce battles along the entire line of contact
As noted, fierce battles unfolded along the entire line of contact. In total, the enemy during these four days conducted 619 assault actions.
“The main blow was concentrated by the invaders in the Pokrovsky and Aleksandrovsky directions, where there was the highest number of enemy attacks. In particular, in the Pokrovsky direction, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops 163 times, in the Alexander direction – 96 times,” said Syrsky.
The situation remained no less tense in the Konstantinovsky direction, where Russian troops carried out 84 assault actions, as well as in the Ocheretinsky, Limansky and Kupyansky directions, where a total of more than one and a half hundred military clashes took place.
The offensive actions of the enemy were stopped
Despite the enormous pressure and the involvement of significant reserves, the Russian command could not fulfill its tasks.
“Thanks to the professional, coordinated actions of Ukrainian soldiers, the enemy’s offensive actions were stopped in several directions. In some parts of the front, high-intensity battles continue, but the enemy is forced to move on to regrouping its forces,” the commander-in-chief explained.
According to him, the invaders are trying to pull up new units and are preparing to continue attacks, relying on worsening weather conditions, which, in their opinion, should reduce the effectiveness of Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance, interfere with the work of our unmanned systems and artillery.
Losses of the Russian Federation
“The command of the troops of the Russian Federation threw in the “meat assault” tens of thousands of soldiers, but the price of this attempt to attack was catastrophic for the aggressor. During four days of intense assault actions, the enemy lost more than 6090 soldiers killed and wounded. While during the week the total losses of the enemy amounted to about 8710 people killed and seriously wounded. The Defense Forces also destroyed a lot of enemy military equipment and weapons.
We were ready to increase the intensity of the invasion of the Russian horde, so we made the necessary management decisions. The troops received replenishment, were provided with military equipment, weapons, ammunition,” Sirsky added.
At the same time, he stressed that the successful repulsion of massive assaults of the enemy was made possible primarily due to the courage and fortitude of each warrior who performs combat missions and keeps the system in these difficult conditions.
“As four years ago, at the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the ukrainian defenders proved their superiority on the battlefield. In some areas, our soldiers seized the initiative and conduct their own active actions, using active defense tactics.
I thank the soldiers who survived the onslaught of the enemy, hold certain borders and continue to liberate the Ukrainian land from the invaders. Among others, my sincere gratitude to the 82nd and 95th Separate Air Assault Brigades, the 3rd, 5th, 92nd Separate Assault Brigades, the 1st, 33rd, 225th, 425th, 475th Separate Assault Regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 4th and 14th Separate Operational Brigades of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as other combat units that hold the defense and destroy the enemy,” sums up Syrsky.
