Since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion, the Defense Forces have surveyed 6,683 km² of territories and defused over a million explosive devices. Such data were provided by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine during the 22nd International Symposium on Mine Action 2026 in the Croatian city of Split. This was reported by the PromPolitInform portal.
In total, since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, the following areas have been cleared of explosive devices:
112.87 sq. km of water areas;
9,778 km of roads;
10,358 km of power lines;
3,965 km of railways;
925 km of pipelines.
2,522 specialists have been involved in the implementation of mine action tasks.
Ukraine’s experience in the field of mine action is unique, as a significant part of the work is carried out in conditions of active war, large-scale contamination of territories and a constant risk of repeated mining.
This was emphasized during Mine Action 2026 by Colonel Ruslan Beregulya, Head of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, Head of the Secretariat of the National Authority for Mine Action.
