In the first three months of 2026, DTEK, a company owned by businessman Rinat Akhmetov, invested UAH 4.2 billion in the restoration of thermal power plants after shelling and in supporting the stable operation of mines. This is stated in a DTEK statement, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
“According to preliminary information, in January-March of this year, DTEK Energy allocated about UAH 4.2 billion to prepare for summer consumption peaks and the next heating season,” it says.
It is noted that the funds were allocated for repairs and restoration work after enemy shelling, support for the operation of thermal power plants and mines.
“On the eve and during the heating season, the entire Ukrainian energy sector – and the company’s thermal power plants were no exception, having undergone numerous massive attacks. Over the past six months, our stations alone have been massively shelled 11 times. These concentrated attacks have caused enormous destruction. Dozens of drones and missiles were directed at some of our stations in just one attack. But thanks to the selfless work of thousands of energy workers, we have made it through this season,” said DTEK Energy CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.
He stressed that due to the unprecedented scale of the destruction of the energy sector, repairs will continue throughout 2026 and beyond.
“Our energy workers, repairmen, miners and machine builders have already begun preparations for the next winter, because the main thing is that Ukrainians remain with light and warmth,” Fomenko emphasized.
We will remind you that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Akhmetova has directed almost UAH 44 billion to thermal power plants, mines and machine-building plants.
