Almost $1.3 billion went to Ukraine from the Government of Japan as part of the World Bank’s PEACE in Ukraine project. This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
The funds are credited to the general fund of the state budget and will be used for social needs.
According to the prime minister, this is the second tranche from Japan, which is funded through the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine mechanism of the G7 countries, the total amount of which is 50 billion US dollars.
Sviridenko added that since February 2022, total budget support from Japan has exceeded $10.7 billion, of which more than $2.7 billion came in the form of grants.
“This assistance is extremely important for maintaining the financial stability of Ukraine,” the prime minister said.
