A little more than two thousand children have already been returned home since the beginning of the Great War
Seven more Ukrainian children managed to return from the territories temporarily occupied by Russia as part of the initiative of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA, said Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, reports “DS“. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
“Thanks to the active efforts of the team of the Ombudsman’s Office, as part of the initiative of the President, we managed to return seven more children home. I am grateful to the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump for humanitarian support for Ukraine’s initiatives in the issue of returning children,” Lubinets noted.
He reported that all the children are teenagers aged 13 to 17, who experienced difficult life circumstances in the occupied territories.
The Ombudsman also told the stories of the rescued children. In particular, a 13-year-old boy was orphaned in the occupied part of the Kherson region and was in a social center, and has now been reunited with his sister. Two brothers were subjected to psychological pressure from the occupation authorities after their parents died, but were able to return and will be under the care of their sister. Another 14-year-old boy was reunited with his mother after more than four years of separation.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 2,070 children have already been returned home, but thousands are still waiting. We will continue the fight until we return everyone,” Dmytro Lubinets summed up.
