Rada adopted a law on quality control of goods

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law providing for stricter state supervision over the quality and safety of products. In particular, the new rules cover online trading and are consistent with the standards of the European Union.

This was сreported by the press service of the VR apparatus, informs the portal  PromPolitInform.

It is noted that the implementation of the European integration law (reg. No. 12426) to improve market surveillance and technical regulation in accordance with EU standards will increase the effectiveness of product safety control and strengthen responsibility for violation of standards.

“Checks and controls will be the same for goods in traditional stores, and for products sold through online platforms – marketplaces will be under the same supervision,” – stated in the message.

The adopted act is part of the preparation for the conclusion of the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptability of Industrial Products, which is an important step for Ukraine’s integration into the single market of the European Union. It is expected that this will create prerequisites for the free circulation of Ukrainian goods in the EU and increase confidence in the national quality control system.

The law also expands the state’s ability to respond promptly to consumer complaints and strengthens the protection of their rights to safe and high-quality products. For business, the new rules mean equal conditions of competition and additional opportunities to enter European markets, the press service assured.
