Figure of the day: 1.1 billion hryvnias of the JICA grant will go to demining and medical assistance

The Cabinet of Ministers will send ₴1.1 billion of the grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the State Emergency Service for demining and to medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the treatment of the wounded. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

“We are sending ₴1.1 billion (¥4 billion) of the grant from the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA for the needs of demining and medical assistance. The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting,” the message says.

Thus, the State Emergency Service will receive equipment to strengthen the capabilities of sappers in the amount of ₴984 million: from demining equipment and protective equipment to educating the population in mine safety rules.

Another ₴140 million will be spent on equipping medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with equipment for the treatment and rehabilitation of the wounded, in particular with mine and explosive injuries.

As reported, within the framework of the grant agreement “Emergency Recovery Program” (Phase 4), Japan will transfer to Ukraine 22 units of equipment for monitoring the condition of roads, and also plans to purchase generators for communities for the next heating season.
