The US conducted large-scale military exercises, during which they recreated the Ukrainian tactic of massive drone attacks, known as Operation Spider Web. This was reported by Fakty, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
The Pentagon recreated Spider Web during secret exercises in Florida
The maneuvers took place at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida as part of Operation Clear Horizon, where the US military tested the effectiveness of drone countermeasure systems, Defense One writes.
Various types of drones were used during the exercises — from commercial to sophisticated devices resistant to electronic warfare. Particular attention was paid to remote control technologies via LTE and fiber optic channels, which allow drones to be controlled even at long distances.
According to the results of the tests, the Pentagon concluded that the US Army needs an integrated system to combine data from various means of detection and interception. The military also stressed the need to create cheaper interceptor drones, as expensive missiles are often used to destroy budget UAVs.
The military notes that Ukraine’s experience has significantly influenced the approach to the development of unmanned technologies. In particular, US representatives recently visited Ukraine to study the most effective solutions that are already being used on the battlefield.
“We were in Ukraine about six weeks ago, talked with the Unmanned Systems Forces… We reviewed these most promising technologies and referred to data on their effectiveness in Ukraine, and not to internal tests of the department,” said Brigadier General Matt Ross, who heads the Pentagon’s UAV countermeasures center.
Recall that in 2025, the SBU conducted Operation Web, during which several Russian airfields in the deep rear were attacked. According to various estimates, then Russia lost about 40 strategic aviation aircraft.
