Sanctioned tanker “MARQUISE” hit

This morning, a unit of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the sanctioned vessel “MARQUISE” using two kamikaze MBEK drones (tanker, Cameroon flag, no cargo, capacity over 37,000 tons).
This was reported by the Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the Prompolitinform portal.

At the time of the strike, the vessel was drifting about 210 km southeast of the city of Tuapse (Russia), with its AIS signal turned off, likely waiting for offshore loading from another vessel.

✅Note: AIS — Automatic Identification System — is a system used in maritime navigation to identify vessels, their dimensions, course, and other data.

The strike targeted the stern area, specifically the propeller-rudder group and the engine room.

The tanker “MARQUISE” is under sanctions by Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland, New Zealand, and Canada, and was used by the enemy for illegal transportation of petroleum products.

🧐The extent of the damage is being уточнено (under clarification).

💪The Defense Forces of Ukraine will continue to take systematic measures to stop the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

To be continued! 💥Glory to Ukraine! 🇺🇦
