US Secretary of Defense Pete Gegseth said that the Pentagon sent its military to Ukraine to study the use of drones in real combat conditions. He stated this during a hearing in the Senate Committee, the broadcast of which was shown by AP, writes “European Truth,” informs the portal PromPolitInform.
During the meeting, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called Ukraine the “Silicon Valley of War” and asked whether Gegseth supported trips by Pentagon officials to gain combat experience. Gegset confirmed this practice and added that he personally approved the referral of additional employees.
“I personally approved the deployment of additional personnel to study this drone battlefield in both offensive and defensive aspects, so that we learn all the possible lessons of this conflict and implement them in real time in the way we defend and conduct offensive operations in an era when drone dominance is a necessity,” the minister said.
The minister stressed that the United States should take into account the experience gained in Ukraine and on other battlefields and implement it in its own armed forces as soon as possible.
On April 30, it became known that Pentagon representatives confirmed the allocation of $400 million for Ukraine, which had previously been approved by Congress.
In February 2025, the head of the Pentagon called unrealistic Ukraine’s accession to NATO and a return to the borders of 2014.
