Trump said that he will not lift the blockade from Iran, despite the opening of the Strait of Hormuz

The head of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is open and “ready for work and full passage of ships.” At the same time, the US president added that the blockade of Iranian ports will continue at least until the full implementation of the agreement. Trump wrote about this in the social network Truth Social, informs the portal PromPolitInform.

Shortly after Iranian officials reported that the passage for all merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz was declared completely open, Trump confirmed this information, hinting that this was his merit, and then clarified that he did not intend to lift the naval blockade from Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is ready for work and full passage of ships, “the American president wrote. “The blockade of Iranian ports will remain in full force and effect” until the agreement between the United States and Iran is 100% implemented. This process should go very quickly, since most of the issues have already been resolved through negotiations.

  • On April 17, Iran fully opened the Strait of Hormuz for commercial vessels. Oil prices instantly reacted to the news: for half an hour, the price of Brent crude oil fell from $99 to $89 per barrel.
  • On March 3, Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil supplies pass. Tehran has thus carried out its decades-long threats to block the narrow waterway in retaliation for any attack on Iran.
  • On April 5, Trump called on “crazy bastards” from Iran to open the “damn” Strait of Hormuz. Otherwise, he threatened to attack power plants and bridges in Iran.
