Fighters of the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine “Artan” conducted a successful operation to clean up Stepnogorsk in the Zaporizhzhya direction. As a result of a series of active offensive actions, the forces of the Russian invaders were driven out of fortified positions, and the key locations of the city came under the control of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, having published exclusive shots of intensive combat work of attack aircraft, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
The operation took place in close cooperation with adjacent units. Assault actions took place in difficult urban conditions with the involvement of aerial reconnaissance and point fire destruction. During the entry of assault groups into positions, the enemy tried to attack Ukrainian armored vehicles using an FPV drone, but the enemy drone was quickly destroyed.
Currently, special forces continue to clean up. According to the commander of “Artan” Viktor Torkotiuk, each house is checked for the presence of remnants of enemy manpower and mine-explosive traps. The command of the special forces does not exclude new attempts of assaults by the Russian Federation.
Stepnogorsk is a strategically important settlement on the Zaporizhzhya Front, which has been under constant shelling for a long time due to its proximity to the contact line. The enemy’s attempts to gain a foothold in the city posed an immediate threat to the further defense of the site.
On April 14, GUR fighters liberated Stepnogorsk in Zaporozhye and showed unique footage of the operation.
In March, Ukrainian fighters from the 14th army corps installed the state flag of Ukraine in the village of Pokrovka, Sumy district. In this way, the defenders refuted the reports of enemy propagandists about the alleged capture of the village.
