The drone is capable of speeds up to 500 km/h and is already used for strikes on Ukraine as a response to the high efficiency of Ukrainian interceptors.
The defence intelligence of Ukraine has published on the portal War & Sanctions interactive 3D-model of the new Russian jet strike drone “Geran-4,” as well as data on its design and foreign components.
The DIU reported that Russia began to use this drone as a response to the effectiveness of Ukrainian UAV-interceptors, informs the portal PromPolitInform.
Tests began in January
According to intelligence, the first test launches of “Gerani-4” were carried out until January 2026 from the “Primorsk” dronoport in the Oryol region of the Russian Federation and from the territory of the former Donetsk airport. Already in May 2026, drones began to be used for strikes on Ukraine.
The DIU notes that previous jet versions – “Geran-3” – created on the basis of the glider gasoline “Gerani-2,” but this design could not withstand high speeds and overloads.
Characteristics of the drone
The new “Geran-4” received a separate reinforced glider with improved aerodynamics and turbojet engine increased thrust. The wings are now integrated into the design, and the number of technological hatches on the hull has been reduced to reduce air resistance.
Intelligence also reported that the drone uses two types of Chinese turbojet engines – Telefly LX-WP-160 and Telefly TF-TJ2000A.
According to the GUR, the new UAV can maneuver at a speed of 300-400 km/h, accelerate to 500 km/h and climb to a height of 5 thousand meters.
The drone is capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 90 kilograms at a distance of up to 450 kilometers.
The intelligence stressed that the electronic control system “Gerani-4” is identical to the previous Russian drones produced by “Alabuga.”
“Terror has no borders, and it is possible to return stability to the world only by depriving Russia of access to technologies that the aggressor uses to wage a criminal war,” the DIU said.
Recall that Ukraine is testing cheap missiles to shoot down new Russian drones.
