The EU member states have given the “green light” to launch negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.

According to her, the EU member states have given the “green light” to start negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union.
She noted that the opening of the first negotiation chapters, which concern democracy, justice and the rule of law, underlines the efforts of both countries in carrying out reforms and their commitment to European values.
The President of the European Parliament also stressed that Ukraine and Moldova continue to move towards EU membership, despite Russian aggression, threats and attempts at intimidation.
“Enlargement is our most powerful geopolitical tool, and Ukraine and Moldova belong to Europe,” said Roberta Metsola.
As we previously reported, the European Union plans to officially open the accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova on June 15.
