Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions against Russian propaganda media and judges

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on the application of sanctions against Russian propaganda media and judges who made illegal decisions regarding Ukrainians. This was reported on the website of the Office of the President, the PromPolitInform portal reports.

Sanctions were imposed against 29 people and 17 organizations. The sanctions list includes judges involved in the criminal prosecution of Ukrainians in Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as in the in absentia conviction of Ukrainian activists, journalists and politicians.

One of them is Moscow judge Timur Vakhrameev, who systematically makes politically motivated decisions against Ukrainian civilians and fighters of volunteer units. Vakhrameev is also involved in the imprisonment of journalist Viktoria Roshchina, who died in Russian captivity.

In addition to him, judge Vitaly Belitsky, who passed an absentia sentence on media expert Irina Zemlyaina of the Institute of Mass Information, was also sanctioned.

The sanctions package also includes Russian propaganda media and their leaders who systematically spread disinformation and Russian propaganda. These are Gazeta.Ru, Lenta.Ru, Utro.Ru, Tatmedia, and FederalPress. In addition to them, the list includes the Union of Journalists of Russia and all its “regional branches,” including those created in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Among the propagandists who fell under restrictions are the head of the Tatar-Inform news agency Rinat Bilalov, photojournalist and author of the exhibition “Crimea. Novorossiya. Russia” Sergey Vinyavsky, editor-in-chief of Utro.Ru Yulia Lozhechko, editor of RIA FederalPress Natalya Oksak, editor-in-chief of the Global.City online magazine Nadiya Plotnikova, and director of Tatmedia Alsou Ismagilova.

Presidential advisor on sanctions policy Vladislav Vlasyuk said that “Ukrainian sanctions are just the beginning” and announced the following decisions.
