Kametstal Metallurgical Plant, part of the Metinvest Group, is completing preparations for overhaul of blast furnace No. 1M, scheduled for the current year. This is stated in the company’s statement, the PromPolitInform portal informs.
As part of the preparations, the company is conducting an audit and preparation of tools and modernization of the unit’s equipment.
In particular, the steel plant is completing the preparation of five suspended platforms designed for safe work of personnel during operations directly inside the blast furnace. Four of them were successfully used during last year’s overhaul of blast furnace No. 9, and one more was purchased additionally.
In addition, the company is preparing to install and replace the equipment of the blast furnace charging device. In order to minimize the time of direct installation during the unit shutdown, repairmen apply the practice of large-scale preliminary assembly of individual units on specially equipped stands. Currently, the work on preparing for the installation of a new gas shutter of the intercone space is in the active phase. Specialists are performing internal protection of the shutter, developing hatches, preparing holes for exhaust pipes, and cleaning flanges.
The next step is planned to be a set of works on preparing the direct charging device, the restored rotating charge distributor and the small cone. The new charging device was manufactured by the Zaporizhzhia division of Metinvest Machinery. Specialists of the metallurgical equipment repair shop (CRMU) will perform its full large-scale assembly.
The modernization of the bells of ten tuyeres, which are responsible for supplying hot blast directly to the blast furnace, has also begun. The project involves a radical change in the design of the bells with the addition of flange connections, which will further significantly simplify and speed up their maintenance during cleaning. Specialists of the Kametstal Central Metallurgical Plant are manufacturing the necessary metal structures, and the subsequent refractory lining will be performed by the Zaporizhvognetriv enterprise.
