President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law that deprives the Russian language of the protection of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages ​​in Ukraine. This was announced by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk on Friday, June 12. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

This is Law No. 4699-IX, Stefanchuk explained. And he called the signing “an important decision for the protection of the Ukrainian language space.”

“The language of the aggressor state cannot use the protection tools created to support the languages ​​of indigenous peoples and national communities,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
