A series of powerful explosions were heard in Tyumen, Russia, on June 20. According to preliminary data, the local oil refinery, which is considered strategic for the Russian Federation, was hit. According to the PromPolitInform portal, Expert reports this.

According to local residents, at least two strong explosions were heard in the city. According to preliminary data, they were heard on the territory of the Tyumen Oil Refinery.

Before that, the city had declared an alarm due to the threat of a drone attack. Monitoring channels also reported an emergency pressure release at the enterprise itself.

The Tyumen Oil Refinery is one of the important facilities of the Russian fuel infrastructure. Its capacity is estimated at 7.5 to 9 million tons of crude oil per year.

Of particular note is the distance to the scene. Tyumen is located approximately 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Against this background, Russia is increasingly talking about the growing threats to strategic facilities in the deep rear.

Earlier, Moscow residents have already felt the consequences of strikes on the local refinery. Then, one of the tanks at the Moscow Oil Refinery was reportedly hit by a missile from a Russian air defense system.
