Usyk gave up all championship belts. For the sake of a big fight

As reported by Glavkom, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk announced his refusal of his WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF and The Ring championship belts in heavyweight, but assured that he was not ending his career. Usyk plans to hold his last fight, which he called the “last dance”. The PromPolitInform portal informs.

In his address, Usyk noted:

“It’s a good day to say that I want to give up all my belts that I own today. To make them free so that the guys who are in line behind them can box. Friends, I’m giving up the belts, but I’m not leaving the sport, because I have a last dance. I want to thank everyone, I have great respect for all organizations. I want to thank everyone and say: More to come. Thank God for everything. Thank Ukraine! ”

Oleksandr Usyk moved up to super heavyweight in 2019, and won his first title in this category in 2020. In May 2024, he defeated British boxer Tyson Fury, becoming the absolute world heavyweight champion. In the summer of 2025, Usyk knocked out Briton Daniel Dubois, becoming the undisputed champion of the weight category for the second time.

Titles that Usyk vacated:

WBC

WBA

IBO

IBF

The Ring

Usyk’s refusal to give up championship belts indicates his desire to give other boxers the opportunity to fight for titles, which can contribute to the development of heavyweight.
