US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is not going to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine through NATO within the framework of the PURL program. He stated this during a conversation with the media, Censor.NET informs. The PromPolitInform portal reports.
Selling weapons through NATO and the PURL program
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed at today’s meeting with Rubio in Manila that America “must stop arming Ukraine.”
In response, Rubio, commenting on the words of the Russian, said that the US is not providing weapons to Ukraine, but is selling them within the framework of the PURL program.
“That’s what we’re doing [selling weapons to Ukraine under the PURL program through NATO], and our policy on that has not changed,” the US Secretary of State stressed.
Conditions for peace and the constructive role of the US
Assessing diplomatic progress on the issue of ending hostilities, Rubio noted that one meeting in Manila is not enough for a breakthrough, but confirmed the White House’s readiness to promote a just settlement.
“To do this, we need something that both Russia and Ukraine can agree on. The US President has made it clear that we are ready to play a constructive role in ending a senseless war,” the head of US diplomacy added.
