The 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard, together with the Defense Forces, repelled one of the largest mechanized assaults of the Russian Federation, eliminating 123 occupiers and dozens of pieces of equipment. This was reported by the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Pivnenko on his Telegram channel on July 25, ArmyINFORM reports, publishing the relevant footage. On July 22, the invaders, with the forces of the 8th and 41st armies, as well as the 90th tank division, attempted an assault in the area of responsibility of the 1st corps of the Azov National Guard, involving dozens of armored and light vehicles.
The 41st Guards Combined Arms Army and the 90th Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod Tank Division of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation advanced from the area of the village of Novoekonomichne, and at the same time, forces of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army set out from the area of the village of Vozdvizhenka. For four hours, they tried to enter settlements in the area of the village of Shakhove.
The enemy closed the sky with the help of Gerber and Lancet strike UAVs. The modern Russian Tornado-S MLRS, which was used to support the assault operations, was also destroyed.
The forces of the 1st Corps of the Azov Military District, together with the attached units, stood in the path of the advance of the mechanized columns.
Mine-explosive barriers were installed at the approaches to the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and the bridge crossings were damaged by tactical aircraft.
The Russians tried to restore the crossings using pontoons during the assault, but they were destroyed by tactical aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force.
As a result of the professional actions of all involved units under the command of the 1st Corps of the Azov Military District, the following were destroyed by means of cannon artillery, MLRS, and strike UAVs:
7 tanks;
6 armored personnel carriers;
1 BM-21 Grad MLRS;
1 Tornado-S MLRS;
3 units of special equipment;
47 units of light equipment.
123 invaders were eliminated, another 29 were wounded. The mechanized assault was repelled.
The enemy assault was repelled thanks to the coordinated work of units of the 1st Corps of the Azov Military District, the Central Military District “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Forces of Unmanned Systems, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, units of the State Border Guard of Ukraine, in particular the main department of unmanned systems “Phoenix”, units of the National Guard of Ukraine and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which perform tasks in the direction.
