During the massive attack on the night of July 30, Russia used various types of ballistic missiles, including Iskander-M and S-400, as well as, presumably, North Korean KN-23s. Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported this on TV, Ukrinform reports. The PromPolitInform portal informs.
“The consequences are very serious in Lviv and Kryvyi Rih. Other regions were also attacked. Today, the geography of the strike was wide. Most of all, it is the Kyiv region, where the most ballistics arrived, and the Lviv region, where the enemy sent a large number of cruise missiles. It is Western Ukraine, because cruise missiles are delivered there, and the ballistics that the enemy used today have a limited range,” Ignat noted.
According to him, the Russians used the Onyx and Zircon anti-ship missiles.
“And also the Iskander-M, S-400 and KN-23. Even North Korean missiles have now appeared in the lineup, because our intelligence does not rule out the possibility of using this particular modification of the North Korean missile, which has not been in our lineup for a long time, but has appeared today,” the spokesman said.
He explained that Russia combines different types of ballistic weapons, which are currently difficult to intercept due to the shortage of interceptor missiles.
“The enemy dilutes the classic ballistics of the Iskander-M with the S-400 – this is an anti-aircraft guided missile that should (be launched – ed.) in the air, but they hit the ground. And it is unknown about the KN-23 now, there is no such information, whether it was or not, but it is not ruled out,” Ignat specified.
In addition, Ignat explained the tactics of the Russian Federation’s massive strike: several regions were attacked with ballistic missiles, while cruise missiles were directed towards the west of Ukraine.
“The enemy planned the attack in such a way as to strike several regions with ballistic missiles and missiles flying on a ballistic trajectory, that is, only Patriots are available for shooting down. And the cruise missiles have already flown towards the west of our country,” Ignat said.
According to him, ballistic strikes were carried out in the Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions, where, according to preliminary data, two Zircons were hit. At the same time, one of the cruise missiles flew into the territory of Poland, where local air defense was working on it.
“We managed to work out the cruise missiles, the results of combat work are quite high, especially as regards the Kh-101 and Caliber missiles. As for ballistics, everyone knows the problems. We need systems and, most importantly, missiles for them for the Patriot systems,” the spokesman emphasized.
Ignat specified that the ballistic weapons used by Russia during the attack include the Iskander-M, S-400 and Zircon missiles, and the geography of such strikes this time was quite wide.
As reported, air defense neutralized 320 drones and missiles, with which the Russian army attacked Ukraine on the night of July 30. At a number of locations, 11 missiles and 17 enemy drones were recorded.
