New tariffs for water supply and wastewater disposal officially came into force in Ukraine on August 1. The increase affected a number of cities where utility companies submitted updated calculations due to the increase in costs for electricity, network repairs and equipment maintenance. The regulator approved the adjustment, and consumers are already receiving payments with the updated amounts. This is reported by “Pershy Business“, the PromPolitInform portal reports.
In Kyiv, tariffs increased most noticeably – the water utility explains this by the increase in cost and the need to modernize worn-out networks. In Lviv, Dnipro, Cherkasy and some communities of central Ukraine, new prices have also been introduced, which will be valid throughout the year. In some cities, the increase ranges from 10% to 20%, depending on the financial condition of the enterprises and the volume of necessary repairs.
Municipal services emphasize that the revision of tariffs was inevitable: the increase in the cost of electricity and materials significantly increased the costs of water utilities. In regions where the infrastructure is in critical condition, the increase is called a forced step to ensure stable water supply.
We remind you that consumers are advised to carefully check their August bills, as tariffs vary depending on the decision of local authorities and the economic situation in a particular community. Further changes are possible only after additional calculations and approval by the regulator.
